They come from the french children's cookbook La cuisine est un jeu d'enfants. I'd love to get my hands on this book because it is filled with colorful pictures on each page.
It's the simplest recipe. You whip some egg whites until they form stiff peaks, fold in some grated gruyere cheese and arrange on a cookie sheet so that they form little nests. Bake them at 450 for 5 minutes and then take them out and slip the yolk in the center. Put it back in the over for 2-3 minutes and voila - Nid D'oeuf (Egg Nest)!
